Ghana Immigration Service to Strengthen International Cooperation on Migration and Border Security with Spain

The Comptroller-General of the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS), Mr Samuel Basintale Amadu, has expressed readiness to deepen cooperation with international partners to strengthen migration governance and border security in Ghana.

This follows a bilateral meeting on Wednesday in Accra with Spain’s Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Ángel Lossada Torres-Quevedo, as part of efforts to enhance diplomatic and security cooperation between the two countries.

During the engagement, Mr Amadu reaffirmed the Ghana Immigration Service’s commitment to working closely with global partners in addressing migration challenges while safeguarding the country’s borders.

He noted that collaboration with international stakeholders remains key to improving operational efficiency and ensuring safe and orderly migration systems.

For his part, Ambassador Torres-Quevedo underscored the importance of strengthening relations between Ghana and Spain, particularly in responding to shared migration concerns.

He emphasised that sustained cooperation between the two countries was necessary for promoting both security and development objectives, adding that effective partnerships remain critical in managing migration flows.
