Ghana and China have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation, focusing on capacity building, technology transfer, and knowledge exchange to enhance the effectiveness of Ghana’s security services.
This follows a bilateral meeting between the Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, and the newly appointed Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, Cong Song.
Speaking at Wednesday’s meeting in Accra, Mr Mohammed-Mubarak commended the longstanding cordial relations between the Ministry, the Chinese Embassy, and the Chinese community in Ghana.
He underscored the need to deepen collaboration, particularly in capacity building, technology, and knowledge sharing, to strengthen the operational efficiency of the country’s security agencies.
He further reiterated the importance of sustained cooperation in tackling shared challenges, assuring the Ambassador of the Ministry’s readiness to work closely with the Chinese Embassy to enhance bilateral ties.
On his part, Ambassador Cong Song described the Ministry of the Interior as a critical institution within Ghana’s governance and security framework, highlighting its central role in maintaining peace and stability.
He reaffirmed China’s commitment to strengthening diplomatic and economic relations with Ghana, noting that the Embassy stands ready to collaborate with the Ministry in advancing areas of mutual interest.
On law and order, the Ambassador stressed the need for Chinese nationals residing in Ghana to strictly adhere to the laws of the country.
He also expressed China’s support for Ghana’s ongoing efforts to combat illegal mining, emphasising that responsible business conduct is essential for sustainable development and shared prosperity.
