Asuokaw Community Set to Get New Bridge Over the Asuokaw River

The Asuokaw community in the Upper West Akim District is set to experience a significant transformation with the announcement of a new bridge over the Asuokaw River, a fulfilment of a promise from the Eastern Regional Minister, Mrs Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey.

This development brings immense relief to residents who have faced dangers while crossing the river on a makeshift log. This gained national attention following a viral video showcasing children precariously manoeuvring across the unstable log, sparking public concern and calls for action.

In response, Minister Awatey attended a sod-cutting ceremony to mark the commencement of the bridge’s construction.

During the ceremony, she emphasised the importance of quality work and adherence to the timeline, instructing the contractor to meet the community’s expectations.

She also encouraged residents to collaborate with the construction team because the bridge represented more than just infrastructure, but symbolised a commitment to a safer future for the community.

She said that with this initiative, the government aims to enhance safety, accessibility, and dedication to improving infrastructure in the region.
