Deputy Trade Minister Promotes Ghana as Prime Destination for U.S. Investment

The Deputy Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Mr Sampson Ahi, has reiterated Ghana’s commitment to attracting foreign direct investment, describing the country as one of Africa’s most attractive destinations for business and economic partnerships.

He made these remarks when a delegation of investors from the United States of America, led by the Mayor of Newark, New Jersey, His Excellency Ras J. Baraka, paid a courtesy call on the Ministry to explore investment opportunities in Ghana and strengthen economic relations between the two countries.

Mr Ahi said the Government is determined to create a conducive environment for both local and foreign investors.

He noted that Ghana’s stable democratic governance, peaceful business climate, and resilient economic fundamentals continue to position the country as a preferred investment hub in West Africa and across the continent.

The Deputy Minister further highlighted the significance of the extension of the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA), indicating that the initiative offers considerable benefits for investors looking to establish businesses in Ghana while gaining access to international markets.

He encouraged the visiting investors to take advantage of the numerous opportunities in strategic sectors such as agribusiness, energy, and infrastructure, emphasising that these areas offer substantial prospects for growth, innovation, and long-term partnerships.

Mr Ahi expressed confidence that strengthened collaboration between Ghana and the United States would contribute to economic growth, job creation, and sustainable development for both countries.

Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Mayor Ras J. Baraka thanked the Ministry for the warm reception and reaffirmed the group’s commitment to building mutually beneficial partnerships with Ghana.

He extended an invitation to the Ministry to participate in a Festival and Business Summit scheduled for October in New York, which is expected to bring together investors, business leaders, and policymakers from both nations.

The delegation is in Ghana at the invitation of the Ga Mantse as part of activities marking the celebration of the Ga State Festival.

In addition to participating in the festivities, the visit seeks to provide the investors with firsthand knowledge of Ghana’s business environment and opportunities across key sectors of the economy.
