The Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Mr Samuel Nartey George, has announced the establishment of a 13-member committee tasked with developing a fair and transparent cost-sharing model for Ghana’s Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) operations.
Chaired by the National Communication Authority (NCA), the committee is expected to submit an initial report within 30 days, after which stakeholders will be re-engaged for further consultations.
Speaking at a meeting on Tuesday, the Minister emphasised the importance of a collaborative approach, noting that DTT remains the platform with the widest national reach and is central to Ghana’s digital broadcasting future.
Mr George assured stakeholders that the process would be inclusive, with no final decisions taken without broad consultation.
Discussions at the meeting covered key issues such as operational costs, quality of service, network stability, infrastructure utilisation, and the long-term sustainability of the DTT platform.
The committee’s composition includes representatives from the Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations; the NCA; the Ghana Independent Broadcasters Association (GIBA); the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC); the National Media Commission (NMC); and K-Net Ltd.
