NACOC Receives ICT equipment from Communication Ministry and GIFEC

The Director-General of the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC), Brigadier General Maxwell Obuba Mantey, has received computers and related accessories from the Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Mr Samuel Nartey George, to enhance operational capacity.

The support, which comprises 10 laptops and 10 desktop computers, forms part of the government’s broader effort to equip state institutions with modern digital tools to enable them operate more efficiently and effectively.

Presenting the equipment, the Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting public institutions with the requisite digital infrastructure to improve efficiency and service delivery.

He expressed confidence that the computers would significantly enhance NACOC’s operations and contribute meaningfully to the effective execution of its mandate. He further noted that the presentation marked the beginning of sustained support, rather than a one-off intervention.

Mr George, also expressed appreciation to the Administrator of the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC), Mr Sofo Tanko Rashid, and his team for their support, particularly for deploying the computers despite limited availability.

Receiving the items on behalf of NACOC, Brigadier General Mantey, expressed profound gratitude to the Minister and GIFEC for the timely intervention. He noted that the equipment would go a long way in improving the Commission’s operational effectiveness and enhancing staff productivity.

He stressed the urgency of NACOC’s work, especially in addressing substance abuse among the youth.

“Substance abuse, particularly among the youth in our schools, is real. We need the support of all to curb the menace,” he stated.

The Director-General assured that the computers would be put to judicious use in advancing NACOC’s mandate and strengthening its fight against illicit drug trafficking and related crimes.

He further commended the Ministry and GIFEC for their responsiveness to the Commission’s needs and called for continued collaboration among state institutions to enhance national security and promote good governance.
