The Northern Regional Information Officer, Ahmed Hussein, has deployed Information Services Department information vans fitted with giant digital screens and public address systems to all 16 Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies in the Northern Region to enhance public participation in ongoing stakeholder engagement forums.
This forms part of efforts by the Northern Regional Minister, Mr Ali Adolf John, to replicate the President’s Resetting Agenda Tour at the District level and ensure wider dissemination of information on the government’s development agenda.
The forums provide Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives an opportunity to account for projects undertaken since 2025 and receive feedback from residents on key development concerns.
Speaking on the initiative, Mr Hussein said the information vans were intended to bridge communication gaps and deepen citizens’ understanding of government policies, programmes, and interventions being implemented within their assemblies.
He noted that without the vans and screens, many residents in overcrowded venues and surrounding communities would have been excluded from the proceedings; hence, the intervention has significantly improved visibility and accessibility, allowing residents who could not gain direct access to the main venues to follow proceedings from designated public viewing points.
The vans also amplified sound and projected live coverage, creating an atmosphere that encouraged participation from youth, women, traditional authorities, opinion leaders, and persons with disabilities.
Residents who gathered at the various assemblies to watch presentations by the MMDCEs described the initiative as timely and innovative, saying it enabled them to witness proceedings and better appreciate developmental interventions under the government’s Resetting Agenda.
The stakeholder engagements, spearheaded by the Northern Regional Coordinating Council, are aimed at strengthening trust between government and citizens, promoting openness in governance, and ensuring that development planning remains people-centred and responsive to community needs.
