The Minister for Interior, Mr Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has described fire safety as a national necessity that underpins the safety of citizens, protection of lives and properties and investor confidence.
He made the remark during the launch of the Automated Fire Safety Compliance System (AFCAS), a digital platform aimed at transforming fire safety compliance in Ghana in Accra.
The Minister emphasised that AFCAS represents a bold transition from manual, fragmented processes to a digital, standardised, and technology-driven fire safety compliance regime.
He explained that the system will enable the Ghana National Fire Service to engage the public, streamline inspections, reduce turnaround times, and improve service delivery across homes, businesses, and public institutions,” he added.
Mr Muntaka stated that AFCAS also aligns with the government’s policy of leveraging technology to make doing business easier and guarantee the security of investments in Ghana.
He praised the leadership and personnel of the GNFS for their vision and commitment in bringing the initiative to fruition, while appealing to property owners, regulators, and the public to fully embrace the system.
“Fire safety is a shared responsibility,” he stressed.
The Chief Fire Officer, Madam Daniella Mawusi Ntow Sarpong, welcomed the initiative, describing it as a step forward for the Service.
She explained that the manual system had posed challenges, but AFCAS would improve service delivery, revenue generation, and client interaction. She commended the Minister for his support and assured him of a nationwide rollout of the platform.
