GPHA And Ghana Police Deepen Collaboration to Secure Transit Corridors

The Director General of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA), Major-General Paul Seidu Tanye-Kulono, has visited the Inspector-General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohuno, to strengthen collaboration and enhance security along Ghana’s transit corridors.

The visit, held at the Police Headquarters in Accra on Thursday, focused on joint efforts to safeguard the movement of transit goods from Ghana’s ports to landlocked neighbouring countries.

Discussions centred on addressing emerging security threats, including smuggling and other criminal activities that undermine the efficiency and credibility of Ghana’s transit trade.

Major-General Tanye-Kulono stressed the strategic importance of the transit corridor to Ghana’s economy, emphasising that “ensuring the safety and integrity of cargo in transit is essential to maintaining Ghana’s competitive advantage as a preferred trade hub in the sub-region.”

Mr Yohuno also stated the Ghana Police Service’s commitment to protecting the transit corridor. “The Police Administration is ready to deploy additional personnel to key points along the corridor to deter criminal activity and ensure swift response to incidents,” he said.
