The Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Mrs Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, has received separate delegations from Coca-Cola’s West Africa, Morocco and Algeria (WAMA) region and the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) during which significant investment and trade commitments relating to Ghana were announced.
In the meeting held on Thursday in Accra, a delegation from Coca-Cola WAMA announced a significant new investment drive in Ghana, which is officially scheduled to be made at a major conference in Accra from 6 to 8 May 2026 and will be attended by regional and global Coca-Cola leaders.
The Communications Director of Coca-Cola WAMA, Mr David Appiah, expressed the company’s long-term confidence in Ghana’s business environment, noting that Coca-Cola’s operations contributed GHS 1.28 billion to the Ghanaian economy in 2024 alone, while also creating thousands of jobs across the country.
Mr Appiah underscored the critical role of the Ministry of Trade in Ghana’s investment strategy and urged the Minister to lead a coordinated approach with other key government sectors, including finance, health and environment, to establish a smooth and enabling investment framework for the company.
“The central role of your Ministry in Ghana’s investment agenda is key to ensuring success, and we believe your leadership can create the right environment for Coca-Cola’s growth in the country,” he stated.
In response, Madam Ofosu-Adjare welcomed Coca-Cola’s decision to expand its operations in Ghana, reaffirming that the country’s stable economy and strategic location make it an ideal base for companies seeking to invest across Africa.
“If you are investing in Africa, Ghana can be your base,” she affirmed.
A separate delegation from the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) also called on the Minister to formally announce the date for the 2nd ICC African Sustainable Supply Chain Summit. The summit is scheduled to take place from 12 to 13 October 2026 in Tema.
The ICC Secretary-General, Mr Emmanuel Dhoni-Kwame, indicated that the summit would focus on building sustainable supply chains across Africa and strengthening the continent’s economic resilience.
Madam Ofosu-Adjare expressed the Ministry’s full support for the summit. She indicated that the Ministry remains committed to working closely with the ICC to advance sustainable trade facilitation and investment across Africa.
Both engagements reflect the Government’s continued effort to position Ghana as a preferred destination for investment and trade in the West African sub-region and across the African continent.
