Ghana, Czech Republic Deepen Bilateral Ties with Transport Cooperation Agreement

Ghana and the Czech Republic have strengthened their bilateral relations following the signing of two key agreements to enhance cooperation in the transport sector.

The agreements were signed on the sidelines of the International Transport Forum (ITF) Summit 2026, where Ghana formalised a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Czech Republic to cooperate in areas of transportation infrastructure, maintenance and related services.

The agreement would promote technical collaboration, knowledge exchange and capacity-building initiatives to support the growth and modernisation of Ghana’s transport sector.

The Minister for Transport, Joseph Bukari Nikpe, described the partnership as an important step towards improving the country’s transportation systems and strengthening international cooperation.

As part of its activities at the summit, the Minister also held discussions with Amelia Peterson, Strategic Partnerships Director of FIKA, a non-governmental organisation involved in improving rural accessibility.

The discussions focused on possible collaboration to address transportation challenges facing disconnected and isolated communities across rural Ghana.

According to him, the engagement explored strategies to improve rural accessibility and enhance mobility for underserved communities through innovative and sustainable transport solutions.
