The Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Mr Samuel Nartey George, hosted a Ugandan delegation on Thursday to discuss preparations for a major African parliamentary conference in Accra.
The delegation, led by Madam Sarah Opendi Achieng, engaged in bilateral talks reviewing logistical and strategic arrangements for the upcoming conference, including participation, timing, and expected outcomes.
In his remarks, Mr George emphasised the importance of broad-based representation, stressing that inclusivity was crucial to the legitimacy and impact of the gathering, and to developing a continental framework that reflects shared values and sovereignty, while calling for coordinated African voices on the global stage.
Discussions also underscored the broader importance of the conference as a platform to shape Africa’s collective position on governance and policy issues.
The Ugandan delegation explored mechanisms to elevate the outcomes to the African Union, including submitting a formal communiqué for consideration at the Heads of State and Government. The team also commended Ghana’s leadership and the readiness to host the event, expressing confidence that Ghana’s revised approach would enhance participation and deliver stronger outcomes.
