GMA Director-General Dispatches Cadets for Global Seatime Training

The Director-General of the Ghana Maritime Authority (GMA), Dr Kamal-Deen Ali, has described the deployment of three Ghanaian cadets to Kuwait as a “launchpad” for professional development and a “conveyor belt” bridging the gap between classroom learning and the realities of the high seas.

He made the remarks on Monday during a high-profile send-off session for Albert Yaw Egyen, Bernard Bortey Alabi, and Mikim Kwesi Nixon, who have been selected to begin a transformative Seatime Training Programme with the Kuwait Oil Tanker Company (KOTC).

The three cadets were chosen from a shortlist of 15, drawn from an initial pool of 50 candidates.

Dr Ali emphasised that the initiative reflects the proactive leadership envisioned by President John Mahama to establish Ghanaian youth as indispensable assets in the international labour market.

He reminded the cadets that separation from family and immersion in diverse cultures are standard hallmarks of the maritime profession, but also the foundation of a successful career.
