The Western Naval Command of the Ghana Navy has cut the sod for the construction of an Ultramodern one-thousand-seater auditorium at the Naval Base in Sekondi, to strengthen its institutional capacity and infrastructure.
Speaking at the ceremony on Thursday, the Flag Officer Commanding (FOC) Western Naval Command (WNC), Commodore Samuel Ayelazono, said the auditorium would be a hub of training, a centre of collaboration, and a symbol of progress.
“Today’s ceremony is not just about infrastructure, but rather symbolises a laying of the foundation for growth and strengthening of institutional capacity,” he said.
He noted that the project reflected a firm work commitment to equip personnel with facilities that would enable them to operate effectively, train efficiently, and engage meaningfully.
Commodore Ayelazono noted that the facility would provide the necessary space to host conferences, workshops, ceremonies, joint operational briefings, and promote cooperation with stakeholders from the security sector and international partners.
The FOC called on the Officers, Ratings, and Defence Civilian Staff of the Command to take ownership of the project and work together to ensure its successful completion and extended appreciation to individuals and corporate entities for their contributions to the project.
Notable among them were GOIL Ghana for providing the seed money for the project; K. Nyame Enterprise, Coastal Quarries, GHACEM, B5 Company, and Sekondi Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly.
The project Contractor, Mr Henry Dwomoh, expressed appreciation to WNC for the confidence and trust reposed in the ‘Only One Day Construction Limited Company’ and pledged readiness to execute the project to the highest standards, with timely delivery and open communication.
