Deputy Interior Minister Calls for Innovation in Ghana’s Security

The Deputy Minister for the Interior, Mr Ebenezer Okletey Terlarbi, has reiterated the Ministry’s commitment to modernising its approaches, investing in training, and adopting innovative tools to enhance effectiveness.

Delivering the keynote address at the 2025 Ghana Security and Safety Conference and Expo at the University of Ghana on Friday, he urged all stakeholders to seize the opportunity to invest in innovation, strengthen partnerships, and demonstrate through their actions that Ghana is a secure, stable, and forward-looking nation.

Speaking on the theme “Innovating for Safety: Strengthening National Preparedness Against Emerging Threats,” he emphasised the need for a unified and proactive response to challenges such as cybercrime, climate-induced disasters, public health crises, and transnational terrorism.

Mr Terlarbi noted that technology offers unprecedented tools to enhance security and emergency response capabilities, citing examples such as drones, surveillance systems, and cybersecurity frameworks.

The conference brought together public and private sector leaders, innovators, and advocates to discuss strategies for strengthening Ghana’s security landscape.
