The Accra Metropolitan Assembly has handed over sites to contractors to begin major renovation works at eight basic schools in the Aayalolo Cluster of Schools.
The project is part of the AMA’s 2026 renovation plan to improve teaching and learning conditions.
The beneficiary schools are: Central Mosque 1&2 Primary, Akoto Lante Basic, Amamomo 3 Ashia Mills JHS, Accra Presby Primary, Aayalolo 1&2 KG and Primary, Amamomo 1&2 JHS, Aayalolo 1&2 JHS, and Aayalolo 3 KG and Primary Schools.
AMA Presiding Member, Mr Musah Ziyad, said the renovation is a major intervention after years of limited repairs.
He noted it is the first large-scale exercise in many years, despite several attempts by Assembly Members to highlight the poor state of the facilities.
He praised Accra Mayor Mr Michael Kpakpo Allotey and his team for making the works a priority. Ziyad said the project will give pupils a better learning environment.
A contractor’s representative assured that all selected contractors will deliver high-standard work using quality materials.
The contractors pledged to build durable facilities that will serve the schools for many years and support effective teaching and learning.
