GMA called to support sector reforms for sustainable healthcare delivery.

The Minister for Health, Mr. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has urged the Ghana Medical Association (GMA) to support the government’s renewed health sector reforms aimed at addressing persistent disparities in healthcare delivery.

He made this call at the GMA’s 67th Annual Conference, held on November 14th  at the Cape Cost University, under the “Strengthening Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) for Sustainable Healthcare Delivery”.

He indicated that, strong professional cooperation is critical to the success of these reforms and described the GMA as an indispensable partner in building a fair, people-centered, and sustainable healthcare system.

He noted that the government is implementing initiatives such as the decentralised posting of doctors, the Free Primary Health Care policy, and the newly established Ghana Medical Trust Fund to ensure quality care reaches underserved communities across the country.

Mr. Mintah Akandoh called on the GMA to play a central role in strengthening public-private collaboration, noting plans to open selected Agenda 111 facilities and key service areas, such as diagnostics and primary care, to strategic partnerships.
