The Ministry of Health has intensified leadership and accountability training across Health Training Institutions (HTIs).
The event, held under the theme “Strengthening Leadership and Institutional Excellence in Public Health Training Institutions,” forms part of ongoing reforms aimed at building a skilled, well-distributed, and future-ready health workforce.
Addressing the participants on Monday in Accra, the Deputy Minister for Health, Prof. Dr Grace Ayensu-Danquah, noted the essential role of HTIs in shaping Ghana’s healthcare future.
She stated that it was necessary to move beyond numbers and focus on developing professionals with specialised skills to manage increasingly complex health conditions and called for the integration of technology, innovation, as well as global partnerships to modernise health education and meet evolving healthcare demands.
She urged institutions to comply with the Public Financial Management Act, emphasising transparency and accountability in the management of public resources.
On his part, the Director of Human Resources, Mr Fred Acheampong, reinforced the importance of strong corporate governance in building a resilient health system.
He noted that effective leadership requires not only administration but also accountability, regulatory compliance, and strategic oversight, underpinned by strong communication and data-driven reporting systems.
