The Chairman of the National Development Planning Commission, Dr Nii Moi Thompson, has called for closer coordination across planning systems to improve efficiency and ensure better use of national resources.
Speaking at a media briefing in Accra on Wednesday, he said gaps between planning frameworks continue to affect implementation and outcomes.
“Improving coordination across planning systems will help reduce inefficiencies and support more effective use of national resources,” he stated.
Dr Thompson explained that aligning national plans with budgets and linking spatial planning with sectoral policies will strengthen development outcomes.
“We need coherence between what we plan, how we allocate resources and how development is reflected on the ground,” he said.
He noted that efforts are underway to address these issues through collaboration with key institutions, including the Land Use and Spatial Planning Authority.
He added that the engagement will ensure that development is organised, clear and disciplined.
Dr Thompson noted that stronger coordination will help minimise waste, improve service delivery and support long-term development goals.
