Volta Chiefs assure Interior Ministry of support on security

A delegation from the Volta Regional House of Chiefs, led by the Volta Regional Minister, Mr James Gunu, has visited the Minister for the Interior, Mr Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, to discuss issues of mutual concern, particularly security and collaboration.

During the meeting on Tuesday, in Accra, Mr Gunu stated the commitment to working closely with the Ministry of the Interior and other security agencies to ensure lasting peace and stability in the region.

He also highlighted the Volta Region’s growing importance as a hub for investment, noting that sustained security was crucial to attracting and retaining investors.

The chiefs, led by the President of the Volta Regional House of Chiefs and Paramount Chief of the Anfoega Traditional Area, Togbe Tepre Hodo IV, pledged their full support to the Interior Ministry in its efforts to maintain peace and security.

Togbe Tepre Hodo IV emphasised that maintaining peace is a shared responsibility among traditional authorities, the government, and security agencies.

In his remarks, the Interior Minister thanked the delegation for their visit and for the continued support of traditional leaders in maintaining law and order, describing the Volta Region as one of the most peaceful regions in the country based on available security data.

Mr Muntaka appealed to the chiefs to sustain their collaboration with the Ministry and the government to preserve peace and stability, not only in the Volta Region but across the country.
