Transport Minister visits Western Region to reactivate Sekondi–Takoradi–Kojokrom Railway Line

The Minister for Transport, Mr. Joseph Bukari Nikpe, has paid a working visit to the Western Region as part of efforts to reactivate the Sekondi–Takoradi–Kojokrom Railway Line and assess ongoing transport infrastructure projects.

During the visit on Thursday, the Minister called on the Western Regional Minister, Mr Joseph Nelson, to formally inform him of his mission and to reinforce collaboration between the Ministry and the Regional Coordinating Council on key development initiatives.

The two Ministers held discussions on improving transport management systems within the region, with a focus on enhancing efficiency, safety, and coordination across various transport modes.

Mr. Nikpe inspected ongoing works across critical transport infrastructure, including railway projects, which he noted are central to strengthening national connectivity, boosting economic activity, and improving the movement of goods and passengers.

He emphasized that the redevelopment of the railway line forms part of a broader agenda to modernize Ghana’s transport system.

“We remain committed to delivering a modern and reliable transport system that meets the needs of every Ghanaian,” he said.
