Savannah Regional Peace Council Trains Community on Preventing Violent Extremism

The Savannah Regional Peace Council (SRPC) has ended a two-day training programme at the Chache Community in the Savannah Region to strengthen resilience against violent extremism.

The training was organised under the theme: “Preventing and Responding to Violent Extremism in the Atlantic Corridor.”

The programme aimed at enhancing social cohesion and building the capacity of local actors to prevent and respond effectively to violent extremism in their communities.

Participants were sensitised on emerging trends in violent extremism, local risk factors, and the strengthening of Early Warning and Early Response (EWER) systems to support timely intervention.

The training also provided a platform for inclusive community dialogue to deliberate on emerging security challenges and collaborative solutions.

The initiative was supported by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and co-funded by the Embassies of Norway and Denmark through the United Nations Development Programme and the Embassy of Norway and Embassy of Denmark.
