The Minister for Youth Development and Empowerment, Mr. George Opare Addo, has inaugurated its Ministerial Advisory Board to provide guidance that ensures government interventions remain relevant, inclusive, impactful and ideas to secure the future of the youth in Ghana.
The Inauguration took place on Monday in Accra.
He said the board is expected to also build a future where every young Ghanaian has the opportunity to thrive hence its work needs to reflect innovation, collaboration, and accountability.
Mr. Addo urged members of the board to generate bold, forward-looking ideas and provide practical strategies to ensure government interventions are relevant and impactful in areas such as education, skills training, and entrepreneurship.
He emphasized that the Board’s mandate is rooted in law and carries a profound responsibility to shape policies and programs that directly impact the lives of Ghana’s youth who make up the majority of the population thus empowering them is essential to the country’s development goals.
The Board members pledged their commitment to work diligently with the Ministry to deliver on this crucial mandate, signaling a new chapter in placing youth at the heart of national progress.
The Board is chaired by the Minister George Opare Addo and Mrs Emma Ofori Agyemang, Chief Director of the Ministry of Youth Development Empowerment, serving as a member.
Other Members Mr. Hamidu Adakurugu (esq), Chief Director of the Ministry of Labour, Jobs and Employment, Prof. George K.T. Oduro, Technical Advisor to the Minister of Education, Ms. Faustina Acheampong, Director of the Department of Gender at the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Mr. Sherif Ghali, Chief Executive Officer of Ghana Chamber of Young Entrepreneurs.
The rest are Ms. Betty Simawua Annan, the Country Director of the Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa, Mr. Nii Dodoo Dodoo, the Country Director for Hub British Council, and Ms. Esi Mansa Oklu, the Director of General Administration at the Ministry of Youth Development and Empowerment, serving as the Secretary to the Board.
