Government Committed to Prioritise Agriculture – Ashanti Regional Minister

The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, has reaffirmed the President’s commitment to prioritise agriculture as the backbone of Ghana’s economy.

He highlighted the Region’s potential to lead in agricultural innovation and productivity, noting that the Regional Coordinating Council (ARCC) was dedicated to supporting farmers through improved access to resources, training, and markets.

“Agriculture remains a cornerstone of our development agenda. Under the leadership of H.E. John Dramani Mahama, we are focused on creating an enabling environment for farmers to thrive, ensuring that every constituency benefits from these transformative programs,” he added.

Dr. Amoakohene made this statement when the Deputy Minister for Food and Agriculture, Mr. John Dumelo, called on him on Wednesday to discuss measures to boost agriculture in the region.

Discussions were on strategies to advance key government initiatives aimed at enhancing food security, empowering farmers, and driving economic growth. Also on how to scale up flagship programs such as Feed Ghana and Nkoko Nkitinkiti initiatives designed to strengthen food security, create jobs, and reduce import dependency.

Mr. Dumelo emphasised the importance of expanding these programs to benefit farmers across the 43 Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) in the region.
