The Flag Officer Commanding the Eastern Naval Command, Commodore Solomon Asiedu-Larbi, has reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to strengthening defence cooperation with France during the visit of the French Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV) Commandant Bouan.
Welcoming the vessel’s Commanding Officer, Lieutenant Commander Damian Tocquer, on Monday, Commodore Asiedu-Larbi described the four-day engagement as a valuable platform for professional exchange.
Commodore Asiedu-Larbi emphasised that the strong defence relations between Ghana and France enhance mutual understanding and operational alignment, contributing to regional stability.
He expressed appreciation to France for sustaining the partnership and acknowledged the importance of continued collaboration in advancing maritime security.
Lieutenant Commander Tocquer praised the Ghana Navy as a dependable partner in maritime security in the Gulf of Guinea and reaffirmed France’s commitment to deepening defence collaboration with the Ghana Armed Forces.
He was accompanied by the French Defence Attaché, Colonel Grégoire Madelin, and Sub Lieutenant Geroud Ducellier.
The visit will feature joint activities, including Unmanned Aerial Vehicle operations and discussions on maritime defence best practices, designed to enhance operational coordination and interoperability between the Ghana Navy and the French Navy.
