The Ghana Maritime Authority (GMA) has reaffirmed its commitment to integrity and transparency in regulating the maritime industry, following a social media post suggesting that issues regarding a vessel reportedly detained by the Senegalese Navy may be raised in Parliament.
In a statement last Saturday, the Authority assured the public that all its activities, including vessel registration, are conducted in strict compliance with national laws and international maritime standards.
It stressed that the best interests of Ghana guide every action taken, the safety and security of the maritime domain, and the protection of the nation.
The GMA emphasised that it respects Parliament’s oversight responsibility and stands ready to provide all necessary details and engage openly with the House if invited.
Reiterating its mandate, the Authority said it remains steadfast in regulating the maritime sector and will continue to uphold the highest standards of integrity, adding that “it will not compromise its stewardship.”
