The Deputy Minister for Defence, Mr Ernest Brogya Genfi, has met with the Rwandan High Commissioner to Ghana, Her Excellency Rosemary Mbabazi, to discuss enhanced cooperation and explore new opportunities to strengthen their long-standing diplomatic and defence partnership.
The meeting, held on Monday in Accra, centred on the mutual commitment of Ghana and Rwanda to deepen bilateral ties and pursue new avenues for strategic collaboration.
Mr Brogya Genfi reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to advancing joint initiatives, particularly in the security sector, revealing plans to establish cybersecurity as an independent service within the country’s defence architecture, citing its growing importance to national and global security.
The Deputy Minister encouraged Rwanda to continue utilising Ghana’s defence training facilities and commended the country for maintaining an active presence in Ghana’s military training ecosystem, noting the enrolment of a Rwandan officer at the National College of Defence Studies.
The High Commissioner expressed Rwanda’s appreciation for Ghana’s continued support and echoed the need for deeper collaboration, especially as both nations navigate emerging global security challenges.
