The Chief Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Khadija Iddrisu, has called for deeper collaboration between Ghana and Switzerland in areas including climate resilience, sustainable agriculture and local governance.
She said this on Thursday during the 10th Session of the Ghana-Switzerland Political Consultations in Accra.
Speaking during the opening session, Ambassador Iddrisu said Ghana remained committed to strengthening its partnership with Switzerland through sustained dialogue and expanded cooperation on issues that directly impact development and economic growth.
She said the long-standing relationship between both countries had been shaped by shared values in peace, democracy, multilateralism and the rule of law.
“Ghana and Switzerland will continue to collaborate on issues of mutual interest, particularly climate resilience, sustainable agriculture and local governance,” she stated.
She noted that Swiss companies operating in Ghana continued to contribute to economic cooperation between the two countries and expressed optimism that increased engagements would further deepen bilateral relations.
“The Swiss private sector operating in Ghana continues to contribute to the economic cooperation between the two countries for mutual benefit,” she said.
She added that exchanges and official visits between the two countries remained essential in sustaining dialogue and expanding partnerships.
The leader of the Swiss delegation, Ambassador Philipp, said Switzerland valued its long-standing friendship with Ghana and regarded the political consultations as an important platform for reviewing bilateral cooperation and addressing shared concerns.
He noted that an appreciable number of Swiss nationals currently reside in Ghana, reflecting the strong people-to-people relations between both countries.
According to him, high-level engagements undertaken by Ghana and Switzerland over the years had helped strengthen diplomatic relations and opened new avenues for cooperation.
Both countries renewed their commitment to strengthening bilateral ties and sustaining regular consultations on issues of shared interest.
