NDPC Holds Knowledge-Sharing Engagement with the University of West Florida

The National Development Planning Commission (NDPC) has hosted a delegation from the Department of Earth and Environment Sciences of the University of West Florida for a knowledge-sharing engagement focused on national development planning, governance and sustainable development.

Mr Tweneboah-Kodua, who received the delegation on behalf of the Director-General of the Commission, stated the importance of collaboration and knowledge exchange between academic institutions and policy-making bodies in advancing sustainable national development.

He noted that partnerships between research institutions and development agencies remain critical in promoting evidence-based planning and strengthening governance systems.

Delivering a presentation on behalf of the Commission, Senior Planning Analyst, Mr Christopher Conduah, explained that the NDPC derives its mandate from the legal framework establishing the institution and serves as the central coordinating body responsible for advising the President on development planning.

He further stated that the Commission coordinates National Development Policies, monitors and evaluates programmes and projects, and makes proposals for the protection of Ghana’s natural and physical environment.

Mr Conduah also highlighted the Commission’s role in ensuring that development planning in Ghana remains inclusive, sustainable and aligned with national priorities and international development commitments.

The engagement provided an opportunity for both institutions to exchange ideas and experiences on governance, environmental sustainability and development planning practices.
