The Mayor of Accra, Mr Michael Nii Kpakpo Allotey, has visited the Kaneshie Polyclinic to interact with health workers and assess key service delivery challenges.
During the visit on Tuesday, the mayor inspected various sections of the facility, including the maternity ward, where he commended nurses and midwives for their dedication and service to the nation. He also assured staff of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly’s support to strengthen healthcare delivery.
He assured staff of the Assembly’s commitment to improving healthcare infrastructure and enhancing service delivery at the facility.
Mr Allotey indicated that steps would be taken to address the clinic’s expansion needs and expressed optimism that the challenges identified would be resolved by the end of the year.
The mayor was also taken through the antenatal services unit, where he was briefed on space constraints and the operational pressures facing frontline health workers, particularly in the area of maternal healthcare.
Nurses at the maternity ward raised concerns about the limited space available for service delivery and emphasised the need to prioritise the completion and operationalisation of the clinic’s theatre in order to reduce referrals to other health facilities.
The Administrator of the Kaneshie Polyclinic, Mr Yeboah Asiama Botchway, who led the mayor on a tour of the facility, said one of the clinic’s major challenges and priorities for 2026 was the operationalisation of its theatre. He noted that although the room has been completed, the facility lacks critical equipment, which remains its most urgent need.
