
Accra High School has emerged as the winner of the 2025 National Blood Donor Day (NBDD) “What-Do-You-Know” Quiz, organised by the National Blood Service as part of the activities marking the Golden Jubilee celebration of National Blood Donor Day.
The competition, was held in collaboration with the Rotary Club on Sunday in Accra
It featured four Senior High Schools: Accra High School, Prampram Senior High School, Nungua Senior High School, and Wesley Grammar Senior High School with, Mr. Dan Afari Yeboah as the quizmaster.
The Chief Executive Officer of the National Blood Service, Dr. Shirley Owusu Ofori, highlighted the critical role of voluntary blood donors in healthcare delivery over the past 25 years.
“The National Blood Service has relied on the generosity, compassion, and civic spirit of thousands of voluntary blood donors,” she said.
She added that the event serves as a reminder that ensuring a safe and adequate blood supply begins with education, particularly among our youth.
She commended the Ghana Education Service and Senior High Schools for their support in promoting voluntary blood donation, adding that their continued involvement was helping to shape “the next generation of lifesavers.”
Dr. Owusu Ofori also praised the Rotary Club of Accra and Accra Ridge for their long-standing partnership with the National Blood Service in promoting voluntary donations and supporting outreach activities that have contributed to saving countless lives.
She further applauded the enthusiasm of the quiz contestants for championing voluntary donation.
For their performance, Accra High School received GH₵ 4,000. Nungua Senior High took home GH₵ 3,000 for second place, Wesley Grammar Senior High received GH₵ 2,500 for third place, and Prampram Senior High was awarded GH₵ 1,500 for fourth place.
Accra High School, represented by Abdul Karim Ibrahim and Darlington Awuah Nyamekeh, secured victory with 30 points. Nungua Senior High School followed with 29 points, led by Bentil Patrick and Adjei Benedict.
Also Wesley Grammar Senior High, represented by Abdul Hakeem Adamu and Gabriel Ohene Bempong, placed third with 22 points. Prampram Senior High School, led by Anthony Agana and Godwin Adjorlolo Selorm, finished fourth with 21 points.
