The Right Honourable Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin,is set to Chair the 9th edition of the Ghana International Trade and Finance Conference (GITFiC) in collaboration with the National Technical Working Committee of the GITFiC Agenda 2031 in Ghana.
According to a press release, this year’s conference will also feature the second meeting of the Global Debt Initiative under the theme: “Spurring GITFiC’s Global Debt Initiative; Consolidating Member States’ Gains for Synergistic Impact.”
The three-day event, scheduled to take place from November 27 to 29, 2025 in Accra, aims to bring together Ministers from Member States, Central Bank Governors, international development experts, global economists, business leaders, academia, and civil society for high-level discussions on critical issues surrounding debt, trade, and regional integration, particularly within the framework of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
The conference will also mark the inaugural GITFiC-AfCFTA Tertiary Students’ Congress, reflecting GITFiC’s commitment to engaging the youth in economic discourse and empowering Africa’s next generation to shape the future of trade and finance.
The release stated that,“The Rt. Hon. Speaker’s leadership as chair underscores Ghana’s unwavering commitment to driving inclusive economic growth and championing Africa-led policy solutions to global financial challenges.”
It added that his participation reflects the importance of parliamentary engagement in the formulation of economic policies that enhance transparency, accountability, and sustainable development across the continent
GITFiC emphasized that a key highlight of this year’s conference will be the inauguration of the GITFiC AfCFTA Students Congress, an initiative aimed at encouraging young Africans to participate in policy dialogue and contribute to the implementation of the AfCFTA.
This initiative,demonstrates GITFiC’s commitment to nurturing the next generation of thinkers, entrepreneurs, and leaders who will influence Africa’s economic future.
Since its inception, GITFiC has served as a premier platform for trade and finance discussions in Africa, facilitating collaboration among governments, financial institutions, and academic bodies. The 2025 conference is expected to advance meaningful partnerships and generate concrete policy recommendations that will advance Africa toward a more sustainable, inclusive, and resilient economic landscape.
