The Minister for Health, Mr. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has stressed on the fact that health institutions can only perform effectively when adequately resourced hence government’s agenda to retool and strengthen health facilities to ensure that every Ghanaian has access to quality healthcare.
He stated this when he presented three anesthetic machines to the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) and eight of them to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital to strengthen service delivery and improve patient care as part the Ministry’s plan to distribute 50 anesthetic machines nationwide.
During the presentations on Monday, in Accra, the Minister directed that the newly donated machines be put to immediate use and urged health professionals to handle patients with dignity and compassion and also to provide avenues for client feedback.
Mr. Akandoh announced plans to post more medical doctors to District health facilities across the country to promote equitable access to healthcare and encouraged them to accept postings to rural areas, where their services are most needed.
The Chief Executive Officers of UGMC and Korle-Bu, Dr. Yakubu Seidu Adam, expressed deep appreciation to the Minister and the Ministry of Health for the timely support, noting that the machines would greatly enhance their surgical and anesthetic services.
