Gov’t Committed to Sustain Global Partnerships to Tackle Security and Climate Challenges- Tourism Minister

The Government has reaffirmed its readiness to work with international partners to address global challenges, including violent extremism, insecurity in the Sahel, irregular migration, food insecurity, and climate change.

The Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Madam Abla Dzifa Gomashie, made this known when she represented the government as the guest of honour at a King’s Day reception hosted by the Kingdom of the Netherlands at its embassy in Accra on Friday.

She conveyed congratulations on behalf of President Mahama to King Willem-Alexander, the Dutch government and its people.

She also commended the outgoing Ambassador, Jeroen Verheul, for his service and contribution in strengthening relations between the two countries.

The Minister said Ghana remains committed to deepening cooperation with partners to address cross-border threats and global risks that continue to affect stability and development.

She pointed to the need for sustained collaboration in areas such as security, climate resilience and food systems.

She highlighted the long-standing partnership between Ghana and the Netherlands, noting ongoing collaboration in sectors including creative arts, agriculture, trade and investment, water management and climate action.

She added that Dutch expertise in coastal protection and flood control remains relevant to Ghana’s development efforts.

Ambassador Verheul, in his remarks, said global challenges such as transnational crime, insecurity and climate-related risks require coordinated international responses.

He noted that Ghana and the Netherlands share a strong history and continue to build on existing cooperation through high-level engagements and planned political consultations.
