Ghana Immigration Service Receives 21 Motorbikes from the German Federal Police

The Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) has received a donation of 21 motorbikes and protective gear from the German Federal Police to help strengthen its operational capacity.

The Comptroller-General of Immigration, Samuel Basintale Amadu, expressed appreciation to Germany for its continued partnership with Ghana, assuring that the equipment would be deployed effectively to enhance border security.

Mr Amadu revealed that five of the donated motorbikes would be allocated to the Service’s tactical training school to ensure officers acquire proper riding skills before deployment to operational areas and would significantly improve the mobility of immigration officers, especially in northern Ghana, where the terrain often hampers movement.

“Motorbikes remain the most practical option in such areas due to their speed, flexibility, and ability to move through challenging landscapes,” Mr Amadu stated.

Leading the German delegation, Senior Director Marco Zack reaffirmed Germany’s commitment to supporting Ghana as a reliable partner in strengthening security institutions and promoting regional stability.

The delegation commended officers of the Ghana Immigration Service for their professionalism, dedication, and resilience, noting that their work, often under difficult conditions, plays a critical role in safeguarding the country.

Mr Zack indicated that the donation represents part of an ongoing partnership rather than a one-off intervention, expressing optimism about deepening cooperation in capacity building, institutional strengthening, and migration management.
