The Minister for the Interior, Mr Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has welcomed a high-level visit from the Chief Fire Officer of the Netherlands, Mr Johan Tuitert, as part of efforts to address the persistent problem of fire outbreaks, particularly in markets across the country.
Receiving Mr Tuitert on Thursday, in Accra, Mr Muntaka expressed optimism that the visit would pave the way for enhanced collaboration between Ghana and the Netherlands in fire safety management
Mr Muntaka highlighted the importance of continuous training for security officers in an era of rapid technological advancement, noting that keeping pace with global developments was necessary for effective fire prevention and response.
The Minister expressed hope that Mr Tuitert’s assessment would yield practical recommendations to help Ghana tackle the recurring challenge of fire outbreaks, particularly in vulnerable market areas.
The Dutch fire chief’s visit was facilitated by Ghana’s Chief Fire Officer, Madam Mawusi Ntow Sarpong, who led the delegation to meet with the Interior Minister.
