The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has banned the sale of explosive materials within the Kumasi City Market to safeguard lives and properties from fire and prevent disasters.
According to a press release by the Public Relations Unit of the Assembly, all dealers and traders in explosive materials such as carbide, petrol (gasoline), acid, gas, black powder, smokeless powder, and other highly inflammable substances have until Sunday, March 1, 2026, to relocate to the Racecourse Market.
The press release, which was issued on Thursday, also stated, “a team of security task force comprising the military, fire, police, NADMO and National Security Personnel will visit the various shops in the market to embark on a massive operation to bring traders to book.”
