Zimbabwe’s Mnangagwa Arrives in Ghana on Wednesday for Three-Day State Visit

President Emmerson Mnangagwa of Zimbabwe will arrive in Ghana on Wednesday for a three-day state visit.

A press statement signed by the Minister for Government Communications Felix Kwakye Ofosu, on Tuesday noted that the visit will take in bilateral talks at Peduase Lodge, a state banquet hosted by President John Dramani Mahama, and stops at some of Ghana’s flagship public infrastructure

President Mnangagwa is expected to touch down at the Accra International Airport at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, April 1, where President Mahama will receive him with full military honours, including an inspection of a Guard of Honour mounted by the Ghana Armed Forces and a 21-gun salute.

A state banquet in his honour will follow in the evening.

The centrepiece of the visit will be bilateral talks at the Peduase Lodge, where the two presidents will first meet in a tête-à-tête before leading their respective delegations into wider discussions.

The agenda covers trade, tourism, health, sanitation, agriculture, the fight against corruption and tackling unemployment. The talks will be followed by the signing and exchange of memoranda of understanding in areas of mutual interest between the two countries.

Beyond the formal talks, President Mnangagwa’s itinerary includes a visit to the Sweden Ghana Medical Centre, where he will receive a briefing on Ghana’s healthcare delivery systems.

It will be followed by a stop at the Accra Compost and Recycling Plant for a briefing on Ghana’s waste management technologies.

These two areas sit within the sanitation and health priorities on the bilateral agenda.

President Mnangagwa will also visit the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, where he will lay a wreath at the tomb of Ghana’s founding father, a moment that carries particular weight given Zimbabwe’s own liberation history and the Pan-Africanist ties that have long connected the two nations.

The Zimbabwean president is scheduled to depart Ghana on Friday, April 3, with full departure honours at the Jubilee Lounge.
