The Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness, and Industry has organized a Right to Information (RTI) sensitization workshop aimed at deepening transparency, accountability, and openness in public service delivery. The workshop, held on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, brought together management and staff of the Ministry as part of efforts to enhance understanding and implementation of the Right to Information Act, 2019 (Act 989).
The workshop was chaired by the Chief Director of the Ministry, Mr. Noah Tumfo, on behalf of the Minister for Trade, Agribusiness, and Industry, Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu Adjare. Representatives from the Right to Information Commission also participated in the programme, which focused on building institutional capacity for effective compliance with the RTI Law and promoting good governance within the public sector.
Facilitating the session, Mr. Vincent Appau Bediako provided participants with a comprehensive overview of the RTI Act and highlighted the critical role of Information Officers in ensuring public access to information held by state institutions. He explained the legal framework governing information requests, the procedures involved in processing applications, and the responsibilities of public institutions under the law. The presentation emphasized that effective implementation of the RTI Act is essential for promoting citizen confidence, transparency, and accountability in governance.
The sensitization featured an interactive discussion session where participants asked questions and shared perspectives on the practical application of the law in their daily operations. Staff members expressed appreciation for the workshop, noting that it had enhanced their understanding of the RTI Act and its importance in fostering open governance. The engagement reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to strengthening transparency and ensuring that public institutions remain accessible and responsive to the information needs of citizens.
