Trade Minister Commissions $3.5m Fertiliser Plant to Boost Ghana’s Agricultural Growth
August 25, 2025 News / Trade, Agribusiness and Industry 0 CommentThe Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Mrs. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, has commissioned a $3.5 million fertiliser manufacturing plant established by Invess Agriculture Ltd. at Shai Hills in the Shai Osudoku District of the Greater Accra Region.
The new facility, developed in partnership with Nitron Group and managed by AAA Infrastructure Ghana Ltd., is expected to produce 385,000 metric tonnes of granular fertiliser annually and will also deliver 20 formulations approved by the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD).
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, the Minister commended Invess Agriculture Ltd. for what she described as a bold and forward-looking investment that aligns with the government’s agenda for industrialisation and agricultural transformation.
“This is a decisive step toward sustainable agribusiness growth, job creation, and strengthening Ghana’s position in regional trade,” she said.
She further noted that the plant’s production capacity will reduce Ghana’s heavy reliance on imported fertiliser while empowering farmers to increase productivity and secure their livelihoods.
Mrs. Ofosu-Adjare, accompanied by her delegation, joined executives of Invess Agriculture Ltd. on a guided tour of the facility, where they observed its advanced blending, processing, and quality control systems in operation.
The Chief Executive Officer of AAA Infrastructure Ghana Ltd., Mr. Patrick Ohene-Djan, highlighted the project’s alignment with the government’s industrialisation agenda and its 24-hour economy vision. He emphasised that every shift and unit produced would create ripple effects across the economy, from employment to exports.
“Each shift undertaken, each unit produced, and every pound of fertiliser blended at our facility directly impacts families throughout Ghana, reinforcing the agricultural sector that underpins our nation’s future,” he said.
