Sachet Water Price Freeze Holds as Ministry Intervenes

The Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry has confirmed that the price of sachet water will remain unchanged, after successfully securing the suspension of a planned price adjustment that was scheduled to take effect on Monday, 6th April 2026.

In a press release issued on Monday, 6th April 2026, the Ministry commended the Ghana Plastic Manufacturers Association (GPMA) and the National Association of Sachet and Packaged Water Producers (NASPAWAP) for their cooperation in standing down the proposed increase.

The Ministry described the decision as a reflection of its commitment to consumer protection and market stability, assuring the public that sachet water remains available at current prices.

The Ministry has scheduled an urgent meeting on Wednesday, 8th April 2026, with the leadership of both the GPMA and NASPAWAP to directly address the underlying challenges confronting the sachet and packaged water sector.

The engagement is expected to find sustainable solutions that balance the operational concerns of producers with the affordability needs of consumers.

The Ministry reaffirmed that it will work closely with all trade associations to resolve market issues swiftly and maintain stability across the market.
