Obuasi MCE Tours Project Sites; Expresses Satisfaction with Progress of Work

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the Obuasi Municipal Assembly, Madam Faustilove Appiah-Kannin, has expressed satisfaction with the progress of work on nineteen (19) projects initiated by her administration within the last three months.

The projects, currently at various stages of completion, range from the rehabilitation of school facilities to the provision of potable water for some communities. The school rehabilitation works include additional facilities such as boreholes, washrooms, staff offices, common rooms, and canteens to improve the overall teaching and learning environment.

At a Tour of the project sites with selected staff of the Assembly, the MCE commended contractors for the speed and quality of work executed so far.

At Awona M/A Basic School, renovation of a three-classroom block was found to be over 60 per cent complete. In the same community, a borehole project aimed at providing potable water is also more than 60 per cent complete.

At Nhyieso, construction of a three-classroom block with a computer room, staff common room, and headteacher’s office is currently about 50 per cent complete.

The team also inspected ongoing works at Bediem M/A Schools, where an eight-seater WC washroom facility is under construction, alongside the renovation of the KG block with a kitchen, canteen, staff offices, and additional washroom facilities. A borehole project at the school is about 90 per cent complete.

The tour ended at New Nsuta Presby School, where the MCE directed that the existing KG block, initially earmarked for renovation, be pulled down. According to her, a preliminary assessment revealed that renovation would not be cost-effective; therefore, the Assembly has resolved to replace the structure with a new classroom block.

Addressing the press after the inspection, Hon. Faustilove Appiah-Kannin stated that all nineteen projects are expected to be completed and ready for commissioning by mid-year. She noted that contractors are working within schedule and commended them for their commitment and efficiency.

The MCE was accompanied on the tour by the Municipal Coordinating Director, Madam Joyce Akosua Angmorteh; the Municipal Works Engineer, Mr David Agyei; the Physical Planning Officer, Madam Agnes Amoah; and other staff of the Assembly.

The inspection exercise will continue in the coming weeks to cover the remaining project sites across the Municipality.
