New Envoys Tasked to Prioritise Sustainable Development and Climate Action

The Chief of Staff, Mr. Julius Debrah, has urged the newly appointed envoys to focus on sustainable development and environmental leadership, advocating for equitable global climate action.

He said this at the closing ceremony of the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for newly appointed envoys on Friday in Accra.

He noted, “These newly appointed employees have great confidence in their abilities, which signifies the inclusion of fresh, respected energy into our processes.”

Mr. Debrah said that the necessity of promoting peace, security, and mutual benefits will be achieved through international cooperation.

“Our mission has been an engine for economic development, re-liberating Pan-Africanism and managing alliances to foster continental unity and security,” he stated.

The Chief of Staff recognised the importance of collaboration and synergy built during the training program, stating, “Your role in translating this mission into tangible benefits for our citizens is paramount.”

He expressed confidence that the exchanges of knowledge and ideas during the conference would yield significant benefits for Ghana.

The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, acknowledged the efforts of the ambassadors, stating, “This track of ambassadors will go down in history as the most intense.”

He commended the long hours of training and the commitment displayed by them, emphasising that their hard work would yield benefits for Ghana.

Mr. Ablakwa also highlighted the importance of the legacy left by Ghana’s previous leaders, which has positioned the country as a respected player in international relations. “Anytime Ghana is mentioned, everybody knows that it is done for excellence,” he added.

The Minister took a moment to honour senior statesmen who shaped the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, saying their contributions have brought honour and prestige to their roles.

He encouraged the new ambassadors to draw inspiration from these leaders, urging them that they, too, can achieve greatness.

Ambassador Richard Maximillian Akwei, Ambassador James Victor Gbeho, Dr. Obed Asamoah, Dr. Ibn Chambas and Ambassador Chris Kpodo were duly acknowledged.
