National Peace Council Urged Communities to Take an Active Role in Security

The National Peace Council has called on residents in the Western North Region to take a more proactive role in ensuring peace and security within their communities.

This call was made on Monday during a stakeholder engagement organised by the Western North Regional Peace Council in collaboration with the Church of Pentecost.

The engagement focused on strengthening community vigilance and enhancing cooperation among stakeholders to prevent crime and conflict.

During the engagement, a member of the WRPC, Sheikh Osman Hashim Issa, underscored the importance of community participation in sustaining peace, noting that vigilance, early warning mechanisms, and continuous dialogue remain essential tools in preventing disputes from escalating into violence.

A representative of the Police Service, Rebecca Emefa Sedzro, emphasised the need for closer collaboration between law enforcement agencies and the public, stating that timely reporting of suspicious activities and open lines of communication are critical in crime prevention and public safety.

The event brought together key actors, including the Ghana Police Service, traditional authorities, and members of the media.
