Members and stakeholders of the Kwaebibirem Municipal Assembly have been educated on the importance of the Right to Information (RTI) Act, 2019 (Act 989) during the Ordinary General Assembly Meeting held on Thursday, 30th April 2026, at the Assembly Hall of the Kwaebibirem Municipal Assembly. The sensitization session, led by the Information Officer, formed part of efforts to deepen public awareness of the RTI Law and strengthen transparency, accountability, and effective governance within the Municipality.
The meeting brought together Assembly Members, Heads of Departments, Unit Heads, and other stakeholders to deliberate on issues relating to the development and administration of the Municipality. During the session, the Information Officer expressed appreciation to the Assembly leadership for the opportunity to engage participants and emphasized the importance of public education in promoting informed decision-making and citizen participation in governance. Participants were taken through the relevance of the RTI Law and how access to information contributes to improved public service delivery and accountability in public institutions.
Throughout the presentation, participants listened attentively and actively engaged in discussions on the practical application of the law. The Information Officer used practical examples and clear explanations to help participants better understand the key principles of the RTI Act and its role in fostering openness in governance. The interactive atmosphere encouraged participants to ask questions, share experiences, and contribute meaningfully to discussions, reflecting their growing interest in transparency and institutional accountability.
At the end of the engagement, participants expressed appreciation for the educational session and acknowledged the importance of continuous sensitization on issues relating to access to information and good governance. The successful programme highlighted the critical role of Information Officers in promoting awareness of the RTI Law and encouraging collaboration among stakeholders toward the growth, development, and efficient administration of the Municipality.
