IMF Team Arrives in Ghana to Assess $3 Billion Loan Programme

The Minister for Finance, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has officially welcomed the International Monetary Fund (IMF) mission team to begin the critical fifth review of Ghana’s $3 billion extended credit facility.

The minister welcoming the delegation on Monday in Accra stated that, Ghana’s economic path from the beginning of the year has been challenging, but that strong efforts and united action have helped to level the tide and make significant progress.

He said, while some issues exist, the administration is fully committed to addressing them properly.

“This review is a crucial checkpoint for us, it allows Ghana to measure our progress and incorporate the IMF’s assessment to keep our economic programme on track”, he added.

On his part, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Mission team, led by Dr. Ruben Atoyan, noted that the IMF team looks forward to the review in the coming days.

The delegation of Ghanaian officials present at the meeting was led by Bank of Ghana Governor Dr. Johnson Asiama and included the ministry’s Chief Director, Patrick Nomo, among other senior figures from the finance ministry and the Bank of Ghana.
