Health Ministry Receives Pulse Oximeter to Support Free Primary Health Care Initiative

The Health Minister, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has called on companies, development partners, philanthropists, and individuals to help the government improve healthcare services.

He stated this when WAMPHARMA donated advanced bedside pulse oximeters worth more than $100,000 to support the government’s Free Primary Healthcare initiative.

Mr Akandoh said the government cannot do it alone and that strong partnerships with the private sector are important for building a stronger healthcare system that can meet the needs of Ghanaians, hence the donation shows the company’s support for the Free Primary Healthcare policy.

According to the Minister, the Free Primary Healthcare initiative is one of the government’s major healthcare initiatives with the aims to make healthcare more affordable and accessible to all Ghanaians, regardless of their financial situation.

He explained that the initiative will focus on improving healthcare services at the community level while reducing the cost of medical care for families, adding that the donated equipment will help health workers provide better and faster care, especially for children and critically ill patients who need close monitoring.

WAMPHARMA’s Director of Partnerships and Sales for West Africa, David Sam, said the pulse oximeters will help improve patient monitoring and healthcare delivery in hospitals and primary healthcare facilities across the country.

He noted that quality medical equipment is important for effective healthcare, especially for children and patients whose oxygen levels need to be checked regularly.

Mr Sam also reaffirmed WAMPHARMA’s commitment to supporting healthcare development in Ghana and the wider West African region and added that cooperation between the government and the private sector is key to solving healthcare challenges and improving patient care.
