Government, Diaspora Partners Plan Cultural Showcase For 2026 FIFA World Cup

Government and diaspora stakeholders are aligning efforts to position Ghana for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with plans to showcase the country’s culture and tourism offerings on a global stage.

A ministerial task force and a technical committee have been set up to coordinate preparations, alongside plans to pursue partnerships and new approaches to expand the benefits tied to the tournament.

Speaking during a stakeholder meeting on Friday, in Accra, the Deputy Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Mr Yussif Issaka Jajah, called on the Bureau for International Development, Exchange and Commerce and other partners to map out a bold strategy that can drive tourism and support economic activity.

Discussions centred on presenting Ghana as both a football nation and a cultural destination. Plans are being developed to host events in key United States cities, including Atlanta and Philadelphia, which are among the tournament venues.

Proposals under consideration include cultural exhibitions, business forums and a “Ghana Village” concept designed to showcase the country’s heritage, arts, music and cuisine to international audiences attending the World Cup.
