The Ghana Prisons Service has received a donation of medications from Tobinco Pharmaceuticals Limited (TPL) to help strengthen healthcare delivery for inmates and officers across the nation’s prison facilities.
The donation, received at the Prisons Headquarters in Accra, is expected to benefit about 9,000 inmates nationwide.
It includes a large supply of Xferon syrup, a haematinic medicine used to prevent and treat iron deficiency. The consignment comprises thirty-four cartons of 200ml Xferon, 201 cartons of 150ml Xferon, and an additional 65 cartons of 150ml Xferon.
The Deputy Director General of Prisons in charge of Operations, Dr Francis Omane-Addo, who received the donation, appreciated Tobinco Pharmaceuticals for their timely intervention and continued support in promoting inmate welfare and bolstering institutional healthcare.
The Managing Director of TPL Omega, Dr Christopher Mensah, said: “The gesture supports the newly established Ghana Prisons Medicine and Equipment Bank, a healthcare reform initiative aimed at strengthening medical care for inmates nationwide.”
He reaffirmed TPL’s commitment to supporting the Ghana Prisons Service and other institutions to promote health and productivity.
