Ghana Navy and Nigerian Hydrographic Agency Strengthen Collaboration to Improve Maritime Safety

The Ghana Navy and the Nigerian Hydrographic Agency (NHA) have reaffirmed their commitment to working together in hydrography to enhance maritime safety and ensure accurate charting of regional waters.

The meeting took place when a delegation led by Rear Admiral Ayo Olugbode, CEO of the NHA, visited the Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), Rear Admiral Godwin Livinus Bessing, on Monday in Accra.

Rear Admiral Bessing outlined the steps the Ghana Navy has taken to improve hydrographic operations, including strengthening survey capabilities and building technical partnerships.

He emphasised that closer cooperation will help safeguard Ghana’s maritime domain and enhance security across the Gulf of Guinea.

Rear Admiral Olugbode highlighted the importance of collaboration among hydrographic institutions to advance maritime surveying and technical capacity across the region, adding that accurate hydrographic data supports safe navigation, maritime trade, and the sustainable management of ocean resources.
